OUR BREEDING PROGRAM

Although we “breed” Golden Retrievers, we RAISE Golden Retrievers

Our breeding program is focused on working ability. We breed for the ideal golden retriever temperament and a robust, athletic confirmation, and the temperament and demeanor of a Golden that we all love. Our breeding dogs are health tested and certified to support the development of a physically sound puppy that becomes the dog of your dreams with the best chance at living a long, happy life.

Our pups are first and foremost healthy, outgoing, socialized companions that have grown up to be search and rescue dogs, avalanche rescue dogs, service dogs, therapy dogs, sport dogs and wonderful family members! Physical and mental stimulations start at a very early age as they love to play and work. We love that for a well-rounded Golden, Life is All Sunshine and Rainbows!

We are proud that our puppies receive daily socialization and stimulation from 24 hours of age. We welcome visitors as often as possible after 3 weeks of age. Within 48 hours of birth, we apply early neurological stimulation (ENS) https://www.extension.purdue.edu/extmedia/VA/VA-24-W.pdf. It is amazing how much faster our pups realize they have their own bodies and body parts. We have also found that they stand on all fours and move about sooner.

We maintain a limited “Wish List” of 40 potential puppy owners. If you are interested in being on the Wish List, please contact us via email. There is no deposit required to be included on our Wish List. As soon as we have firm breeding plans, Wish List folks are invited to complete our Prospective Puppy Owner Questionnaire. This is our first opportunity for us to “interview” you. Once the questionnaire is received and reviewed by us, we will invite you to schedule a visit to our facility, so that YOU can interview us!

If mutually agreed that we are both a great fit for each other, you will receive our Purchase Agreement/Health Guarantee (PA/HG). The completed PA/HG is submitted with a $200 Non-Refundable Deposit that goes towards the purchase price of a puppy - male or female, AKC Limited Registration. With this initial deposit, you are eligible for a puppy from our next litter(s). You can indicate which Dam and gender that you prefer with this deposit. If the gender of a puppy is not available in current litter(s), your deposit is forwarded to our next litter(s), or for 1 year. We only accept 10 Wait List Deposits per Litter. If the litter is larger, we go back to our Wish List’s next interested family.

All season puppy facility

We are in construction on our new all season puppy facility! Our pups are whelped in our home – in our “Puppy Room” equipped with a bed so I can keep a careful eye for the first week of their lives. Pups remain inside our home until they are a minimum of 4 weeks old. At 4 weeks, they are introduced to their first puppy food and at 5 weeks old, make their entrance to enjoy outside adventures!

We plan to have our facility fully equipped and functional Summer 2022! Stay tuned for pictures!

Healthy puppies starts with the parents

As recommended by OFA for our breed, our dams and sires are certified for hip and elbow dysplasia and diseases of the eye. Certifications are available upon request.

Our females are not bred until they are fully grown at 2 years of age. They also only have 3 litters as their litters are large averaging 10 pups each. After 3 litters, they are retired from breeding, spayed and continue participating in training, trialing and being wonderful family members.

We select litter Sires that compliment our Dams and that possess the temperament and demeanor true to the Golden Retriever that we adore. Sire pedigrees are investigated as far back as possible, as we do not allow any bloodline crosses - none!

We plan for two litters per year, but that depends on life and family plans.

A dog’s nose must be amazing - It is!!!!! The pup's nose is all they have to depend on for at least the first two weeks of their lives while their eyes and ears begin to open. EOS provides a means to safely invite curiosity and further investigation, and provides a method for early reward opportunities.
